Nearly 24 hours old

Our Jackapoos are doing very well. They are just 19 hours old here.

They have arrived!!

Pippa had her puppies on day 65 of gestation (the length of time of a pregnancy).
Having sat up with her all night she decided to whelp (give birth) at lunch time the following day. She would love to have them down the back of the sofa but I had a different plan.

Well!! would you like all that mess?

They are doing vey well and she is such a great Mum, keeping them clean and guarding them as though her life depended on it. She is my most protective of Mums and other than myself and to an extent my partner, no one is allowed to touch them. She will relax a little as time moves on.

Horsey news   My eldest son has pony games competition at Stoneleigh tomorrow so a very early start and he will have to have his pony and all his tack clean and ready. Mum doesn't do all that any more.
I hope they enjoy the occasion and, of course there are no injuries. Can you imagine up to 80 ponies in a often confined space, all excited. The children do learn how to try to stay out of harms way.

First Day

We went to dog training this evening. There were 5 other dogs of varying sizes but all quite young.
It was fun.
Poppy did very well. Our dogs never go on leads as we walk on our own land so that in itself was a challenge for her. By the end of the first hour Poppy was walking well and was fairly obedient for her first time. I felt proud of her.
My son got a little bored but at least he knows what he will be doing with Jess when she is ready in a couple of weeks.

My youngest son has had a very busy evening as he had ridden before we went to dog training. He is getting to grips with his new pony. He did well and started jumping. He is hoping to join a club and compete through the summer. Fingers crossed it all goes well but most of all I hope he enjoys it.

Time for training

Poppy, our young labrador is doing very well with her basics. (Well at home anyway) We have decided to take her to training classes. My youngest son (11 years) and I are going together. I'm taking Poppy and he will take our Cocker spaniel when she is old enough and had her jabs.
We went and met the trainer and chatted to some of the other owner last week and are happy with what we saw so we are going to take Poppy this week and make a start. Who knows where it will end :)

Some other good news. My horse is sound now (No longer lame) so i managed a good training session this evening and we can now start to get him fit for the summer season and lots of fun to be had.

Try Anything!

The Heron is so resourceful.
We have a very deep, sheer sided pond with lots of fish. We have put a net over the whole thing but this morning the Heron stood in the centre, lowering that netting and getting to the fish. Clever birds.

Healthy eating

I do  like to eat healthily, well try at least.

I have never really been a fan of expensive, snacks from high street establishments but was very pleasantly surprised when I had a subway salad. The ingredients were fresh and presented very well. I chose exactly what I wanted and the level of service was excellent all that and it didn't cost a fortune either. I would highly recommend them to others.

Pippa who is due her litter (jackapoos) any day now is at my feet and snoring very loudly.

sorry!

Life has been manic the past couple of weeks so sorry I've not blogged for a while. I promise to try harder :).
I thought I'd update you on a few things.

Horses  Mine (My eldest son shares and claims as his on) is lame. GGGRRRR! having got through a hard winter and as we have no stables I breathed a sigh of relief that all our horses looked to have done very well. Fitness training was due to start and low and behold he is lame. We don't know why as yet but how frustrating.

My son was due to compete at pony games on Sunday and our 13.3hh had obviously got some thing in his eye as it was very swollen and couldn't go. We were lucky enough to have a friend who loaned us one and the team did very well and had great fun.

Dogs  Pippa is looking large as she has jackapoos cooking. Due next Wednesday so eating lots and starting to make beds. She is a great Mum and such a lovely, little dog.
Rosie  The new lab has been a little challenging but is settling in. She was very nervous about playing and had a few hard lessons to learn. Usually taught by my other dogs.

Bea is due in season having had a rest. She is very loyal to her husband and will mate with Max to give us F1B's we are familiar with their offspring so have a little predictability about it. Jilly is having a rest.
The other girls are all due in season any time so this could prove to be a busy summer.

Meet Jess

She is our new addition. She isn't ready to leave her Mum yet. She lives in Yorkshire so like me a "Yorkshire lass" I do hope she likes it down south. She will find it a little warmer!
Jess is a very well bred, red KC registered Cocker Spaniel. The intention, eventually is to marry her to a toy poodle to create Cocker poos.
